'The Rock of Talk' Debate of the Day: What Happened to 'Shared Sacrifice'?
Life is sweet for certain 'public servants'
Earlier this week, a presentation by the Taxation and Revenue Department and Department of Finance and Administration showed that between October 2019 and October 2020, nonfarm employment in New Mexico decreased by 6.3 percent.
The worst losses occurred in leisure and hospitality (-20.8 percent) and mining (-29.0 percent). But jobs in the state government (+5.9 percent) and federal government (+4.4 percent) actually increased.
Is it fair that “public servants” at the state and federal levels are being hired as the private sector suffers?

“Fair” isn’t the word. “Intentional” is—and the answer to that is “yes.” It is very intentional to make a an even greater portion of our population dependent on The State for income—either by job or by benefit receipt.
