Eddy Aragon running for Mayor of Albuquerque

He will seek the voter signatures required to become the Republican nominee for Albuquerque mayor

Albuquerque, NM, July 23, 2021 — Albuquerque radio station owner and conservative talk show host, Eddy Aragon, today announced that he will seek the voter signatures required to become the Republican nominee for Albuquerque mayor.

“I cannot believe there is no Republican in this race,” Aragon said. “Historically, the mayor’s office has been fairly evenly divided between the Republican and Democratic parties.“

Aragon said his decision to enter the mayoral race was triggered by the disqualification of Democratic candidate and Bernalillo County Sheriff, Manuel Gonzalez, from receiving public funding. Several prominent Republicans had announced their support for Gonzalez’ candidacy.

“For the past seven years, I’ve been the voice of conservatives in New Mexico,” Aragon said. “In the past year I have had two close second-place finishes in races that were determined completely by party insiders. After the worst year for the Republican party in New Mexico history, I want to galvanize Republican and Independent voters and take back Albuquerque for the working families of our city.”

Aragon added that there has never been an election for Albuquerque mayor that has not had a Republican candidate.
